Taking immediate action on climate change to keep Australia safe

We’re thinking globally, acting locally.

Inaction will be costly and deadly.

Climate Action Australia is an independent community of caring and pragmatic individuals and businesses. For the safety and health of all life on Earth, we are cutting our carbon emissions to reduce climate change.

We act on the basis of trustworthy evidence and helpful resources, shared here.

Together, we amplify our voice and impact.

Our mission is threefold...

Educate

We are an aggregated source of trusted information about climate change and how to reduce carbon emissions, including by funding and adopting innovative technology, especially in an Australian context.

Unite

We lobby Australian government, industry and the community with the power of many voices and a clear message: to make climate action their top priority.

Act

We move quickly and effectively to reduce carbon emissions at home, at work, in our local communities and nationally.

"Climate Change is accelerating. It threatens our well being, our security, and our economic development. It will lead to uncontrollable risks and dramatic damage if we do not take resolute countermeasures"

Angela Merkel
Chancellor of Germany

Why Australia needs climate action now

0 %
of climate scientists agree human-made climate change is happening

The debate is done

Multiple reports document irrefutable proof of climate change and the solutions. Further debate or denial only creates deadly delay.

Australia's hottest year on record

Earth’s last six years have been the hottest years ever recorded.

Time is running out

We have a limited window of opportunity to minimise further impacts of global warming. Some scientists believe a tipping point will come soon, while others believe this tipping point may already be reached.

until Australia reaches its 2030 Paris Agreement emissions target, given the current rate of emission reduction (and this doesn't include any additional emissions)

We have to hit the targets

Australians (and many others) are not cutting emissions quickly enough. Australia was recently ranked worst of 57 countries on climate change policy. We can’t wait any longer for government. We must take personal and professional action, now.

Our shameful global ranking

Australia has the eleventh highest emissions per capita in the world.

We have the power

Australia is a leader in many clean technologies, such as solar power and in building renewable energy. By fostering these innovations, we can not only reduce our carbon footprint, but also those of other countries around the world.

To avoid catastrophic impacts, including the total destruction of the Great Barrier Reef.

The cost of inaction is too great

We are already witnessing the impacts of global warming: worse bush fire seasons, coral bleaching, droughts and storms. We are already losing homes, businesses, natural resources, biodiversity and beauty, eroding the hopes of our children for a safe, healthy and happy future.
